In the past, many cultures thought that the hands have a predictive value. Based on the structure and lines of the hand, they believed they could discover things about themselves and their future. This practice became what is known today as palmistry, and like other forms of divination - has not been taken seriously by science.

What can science say about us in our hands?
During the last decade, research has found that the hand has no merit as a tool for measuring heather, innate abilities, personality traits, and even sexuality
Digit Ratio
One of the most fascinating things found around your hands is the ratio between the second and fourth digits and its relation to testosterone and estrogen. This has become known as the "digit ratio" or "2D: 4D ratio" and is obtained when measuring the length of the second finger (index / 2D), and divided by the length of the fourth finger (ring/4D) . (See fig. 1).
This relationship has been found to be one of the unique features of sexual dimorphism (different standards for men and women) to be corrected before puberty. Men tend to have more fourth finger (ring) compared with the index finger, while women have longer index fingers comparatively.
Simplified, the fourth finger length correlates positively with testosterone, whereas the second finger (index) with estrogen. Europeans In 2D: 4D ratio is between 1.0 and 0.96, with females tend toward higher values and men tend toward the bottom. In other populations 2D: 4D may be different.
So what?
-Men with lower 2D: 4D ratios (higher fetal exposure to testosterone) have been correlated with being more fertile, more aggressive, and has more music and sports fitness.
-Men with higher 2D: 4D ratios have been found to have a higher risk of heart disease.
-Male to female transsexuals were found to have a higher digit ratio than control males, but it was comparable to control females.
-Lower ratios in women digits have been correlated (but not statistically significant) with trends lesbian / bisexual as well as aggressiveness and assertiveness.
-While women with higher ratios figures are at increased risk for breast cancer and more fertile.
-They found that men and women with schizophrenia have higher digit ratios and lower 2D: 4D ratio has also been found more often in people with autism.

Beyond digit ratio, other medical evidence that emerges from our hands.
The color and appearance of the hands can often be a good indicator of our overall health:
-Poor circulation (a symptom of a variety of diseases) can cause a brownish blue hands.
-Red hands can indicate liver cirrhosis.
Nails
-Diabetes is usually accompanied with "Terry's nails" (half white, half pink nails).
-Blue nails can be a sign of heavy metal poisoning, (very) poor circulation problems, lungs or heart.
-Yellow or green nails may indicate a respiratory problem.
-Clubbing (curved nails on the tips of the toes) is often caused by low oxygen levels in the blood and could be a sign of lung cancer, liver or intestine.
-Spoon nails (concave) may indicate an iron deficiency.
Lines and handheld fingerprint
Even the lines on our palms may have some medical significance - some swirl patterns are known to be associated with genetic disorders such as Down syndrome.
The presence of a single transverse palmar crease can be, but not always, a symptom of certain diseases, such as fetal alcohol syndrome and genetic abnormalities such as Down syndrome and Noonan syndrome.
Men are twice as likely as women who have this condition. (See Figure 2 and 3)
Fingerprints
fingerprintDermatoglyphics ulnar loop is the scientific study of fingerprints and rare dermatoglyphic patterns often associated with genetic disorders. (See the Wikipedia entry for more information)
In a study of Alzheimer's patients showed a significant increase in the frequency of ulnar loops at their fingertips.
A pattern of eight or more ulnar loops are significantly more often in patients with Alzheimer's disease (72%) than in the control group (26%).

Fact hands:
Hands begin about four weeks after conception. At the end of the fourth month of training linese, ridges and creases on the fingers and palms will be complete, and this structure will remain the same for the rest of the life of the person. Make hands as a fossil record of life in the womb.
