Every girl loves to dress up or dress down a simple tee or tank, but every basic isn’t created equal. A Fine Line is a collection of modern high quality basics designed and manufactured in Los Angeles.
The quality and attention detail makes this luxury loungewear worth every penny. We talked to designer and founder Alisia Leibel on how to style her tees, how to shop for basics, and why her designs are worth more than the $5 or $6 you can pick up at the mall
.
We love your philosophy of being dressed up or down in quality loungewear, when it comes to trends like sweat pants and heels, or pajamas on the red carpet, when does it cross the line into too casual?
Only if it’s Black Tie, definitely wear a dress. All other moments are free game to dress how you feel, and I love to feel comfortable. But, things can get too casual if you don't put a little effort into personalizing and adding some flair to your outfit: like adding red lips, layering in jewelry, or adding a stiletto.
How can we dress up a Levi V Neck Tee for a night out with the girls?
The Levi is the best tee! Pairing the Levi V neck tee with a great pair of jeans, heels (Charlotte Olympia strongly suggested) a sick leather jacket, bangles and rings is always a go to of mine. It’s a really easy way to feel sexy but still look casual.
Why are your basics better than the $5 or $6 tees we see everywhere?
Lol. Because we hand make them here in Los Angeles! And our quality and fabrics are super soft, so you never want to take them off.
What should girls look for when shopping for a go-to basic tee?
Look for A Fine Line (lol) OR a neckline that works for your body type is the first rule. I love higher necks, crew and muscle tanks. I also think girls should look for a tee that can be easily worn a few ways; that can be easily worn in the daytime to running around and then can also be repurposed, tucked in with a mini skirt and added accessories for nighttime. It’s so important for a tee be multi functional.
What can we expect from your next collection?
For A Fine Line's Fall 2013 collection you can expect some amazing leopard print pieces, an updated bomber jacket for those chilly fall nights, quirky graphics playing on our AFL Academy theme, and of course the beloved basics.
